Pure magic ✨
Designed by French-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle, the park is inspired by the 22 major arcana of the tarot.
The giardino is located in the village of Capalbio in Tuscany, Italy. Getting there was a real adventure…
I traveled alone from Rome to Capalbio by train 🚂, then took a bike for 1 hour to get there, it was so magical to enter Niki's world; the sculptures are fun, bright, full of symbolic and esoteric meanings, but also have a very personal message about how she felt about the world.
For seventeen years (from 1979 to 1996), the artist devoted herself almost entirely to creating this magical corner, filled with sculptures made of reinforced concrete and covered with mosaics, colored glass, and ceramics, alongside collaborators who helped her create this beautiful project.
The focus of Niki's work is on femininity, pregnancy, motherhood, and women.
The Tarot Garden represents the artist's own astral autobiography, a search for inner balance that would last her entire life.
Today the Tarot Garden can be visited from April to October.
As she said, The garden is a fragile work of art that requires constant attention. After twenty years of working on this project, I have no intention of seeing its delicate beauty destroyed. My garden is a place far from the crowds and the pressure of time .
THE END♡
