Luis Barragán didn't just design houses; he created atmospheres using color, light, and space in poetic ways. He created a feeling of being in a place that wasn't just designed to be inhabited, but to be truly felt.
Also known as Casa Prieto-López, this residence is located in Jardines del Pedregal. Designed by Barragán in 1947, it was one of the first properties built within this ambitious project.
The original site was covered in volcanic rock, and far from seeing it as an obstacle, Barragán turned it into an opportunity to integrate nature into the design. He achieved a contrast between the texture of the stone and the simple geometric forms, allowing the structure to blend into the landscape, as if the house had always been there.

Light is another fundamental element in contemplating this house. The way Barragán placed windows, patios, and openings creates a play of light and shadow that changes throughout the day. This constant relationship with nature and the passage of time is felt in every space.
“In creating a garden, the architect invites the collaboration of the Kingdom of Nature. In a beautiful garden, the wonders of nature and the ingenuity of man are harmoniously united.” – Luis Barragán
